CHURCH MISSION
METHODIST ACTIVITIES
GATHERINGS AT COROMANDEL
The Coromandel Methodist church has just held a mission for brightening the life of the church mission services throughout the past week and gatherings have been held, which culminated in a big night on Friday last.
The Rev. Geo. Laurenson, superintendent of the home mission, was present and showed a Government film entitled “Meet New Zealand.” There were about 40 people present and Mr Laurenson spoke of the plans of the Maori community and pointed: out that the Maori population had increased to about three times what it used to be and therefore many problems were arising, the drift to the cities being an important one. Another film of the birthplace of Methodism in England was very interesting. The films were well received and a most enjoyable time wa spent over a delicious supper, which was served at the conclusion of the secular part of the evening. The Rev. Laurenson conducted the morning service at the Methodist church on Sunday when there was a very good congregation. The Rev. Christian conducted the evening service which was the closing service of the mission.
