TURNED DOWN

COUNCIL’S PROPOSAL

ROADS ON NEW BLOCK

WHANGAMATA (SUBDIVISION

The Thames County Council has, for some considerable time, been endeavouring: to persuade the 'Lairds Department to construct and form the roads through the block of land at Whangamata which the department has subdivided and from which it has sold a considerable number of sections. As no progress was being made the council suggested to the department that they should hand over to the council the unsold sections. The council would then arrange for their sale and from the proceeds undertake to do the necessary road work. Mr A. S. Sutherland, M.P., had now advised the council that the Minister of Lands, A?Tr Corbett, had declined his proposal, but the council still hopes the Lands Department will undertake the necessary road construction work.
