WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

A PIPIROA GATHERING PLAY READING APPRECIATED The July meeting of the Pipiroa Women’s Institute was held in the Pipiroa hall when Mrs Scott presided over a good attendance of members. The president made reference to the passing of Mr E. Marshall, a pioneer of the district, and stated that a floral tribute had been sent. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect. Mrs Marshall is a past member and ex-president now residing at Takanini.

The motto given by Mrs McAulay was “A child who ireads, is a child who leads.”

Birthday arrangements for September are being planned. The good wishes of the institute were extended to Mrs Moffatt the conference delegate for a happy and interesting conference. Mrs Moffatt asked Mrs Scott to accept a posy from the members at the same time expressing pleasure at Mrs Scott’s recovery and at her presence at the meeting. A very pleasant afternoon’s entertainment was provided by the drama circle.
