SAND TAKEN FROM ROADSIDE

TROUBLE AT WHANGAMATA

Alleged vandalism by a Paeroa. firm’s removing truck loads of sand from the frontage of sections alonga newly-formed road at Whangamata has been brought to the notice of the Thames County Council, by Mr J. G. Spence, whose property is affected.

The loading and carting of sand was of to properties and permanent damage was being done to the new road, recently /constructed at a ebst of £250, wrote Mr Spence. The action of the county clerk, Mr J. F. Eames, in sendiijg a letter to the coihpany, asking it to stop the practice immediately, was approved at the July meeting of the council. No sand was to be taken from any of the roads, reserves, from the foreshore or <pri* vately owned land, unless permission of the owner was first obtained, theletter stated. ,
