HEAVY YARDING PENNED
DAIRY COWS MAKE UP TO £24
Messrs Dalgety and Company Lim- : ited report that an extra heavy yarding of all classes of sheep ahd cattle was penned at the fortnightly Kopu
sale. The whole yarding met a ready sale before a large bench of buyers. Beef, cattle yarded in good numbers met a very firm demand, good young cows selling from £l3 to £l5/5/-; lighter cows; £ll to £l2/15/-; flight, £9 to £lO/18/-; plain and unfinished, £7 to £B/10/-. heavy works and boner cows still sold at the high rates now ruling for these classes. “Dairy cattle: An extra large entry of all classes of dairy cattle was
penned, the quality showing a definite improvement on earlier entries. The demand for cattle reasonably close to profit was good. Prices realised were: Good quality cows and heifers, c.t.p., £lB to £24; medium cows and heifers, £l5 to £l7; more backward, £l4 to £l6; medium backward, £l2 to £l3; small and backward, £9 to £11; small Jersey yearling heifers, £5/15/-; good quality empty two year heifers, £7/15/-; medium, £5/15/- to £6/107-. Sheep: A large entry of all classes of sheep was penned. Under a firm enquiry a good, sale resulted, prices realised being:— Medium forward wethers, £3/0/9; smaller, £2/15/6; good wether hog- i gets, £2/6/1; medium store hoggets, ■ £l/19/-; plain cully sorts, £l/10/- to £l/15/-; small late shorn ewes, £2/2/-. Pigs: A medium entry of pigs met' a steady sale with good values for} sows, prices realised 'being as follows: j Good sows, £l5 to £l7; medium, £l3 •
to £l4/10/-; thin, £lO to £ll/107-; small stores, £2/10/- to £3; weaners, £2.
