Carey Ltdfl, owners of the Lady • Jocelyn, drawing the council’s attention to the very bad state of repair of the wharf and stating the firm would not be responsible for any claims for damage served . on it white the wharf was in such , a bad state of repair. The letter complained also of the state of the ferry landing wharf, which at low >tade was damaging the hull of the.boat. /
Cr E. H. Puirdom said that the understructure of the wharf and wharf shed at Whangapoua “had had it.” He .suggested the shed be shifted over on to solid ground and' a .new wharf
'be ‘ constructed. Other than that he could" not suggest anything further. It appeared that the wharf was going to be used again and it was a question .of what the council thought. J>; The chainnuam, Mr E. Deeble, suggested that the only thing to do to ask the Government for \ assistance by a grant to do re* * (ptaatran to the wharf winch served the rehabilitation settlement at Whangarpousa. It was a question of whether the carting over nine ' mites of road from Coromandel twharf would require more upkeep than the two and (a half miles from Whangapoua wharf to the settlement. ■ ' Cr T.
