U.S. INTERNATIONAL WORLD FAIR — CHICAGO
The first United States International Trade Fair will will be held August 7 to 20, 1950, 'at Chicago, a city of nearly 4,000,000 population, in the midwestern State of Illinois. In the. foreground of the photograph is a railroad freight terminal on the bank of the Chicago river. Two lake freighters move toward Lake Michigan, one of the chain of five Great Lakes on the United StatesCanadi'an border. Two jack-knife bridges, which open to allow passage of’ river traffic, can be seen in the I picture. Buildings shown at the left are the Continental Hotel, the Tribune Tower, home of the Chicago Tribune, one of the country’s largest daily newspapers; and the Wrigley Building and its clock tower. At the right are the Londdn Guarantee and Accident Building and the Mather Tower.
