OAR SOMERSAULTS

ACCIDENT AT TIROHIA

When the steering gear of a small car broke near Tirohia on Monday evening last the car containing four young men became out of control left the road, hit a tree and somersaulted into a 15-foot gully coming to rest on its back. The body of the car was completely wrecked and the occupants sustained injuries though not of a serious nature.

The car was being driven by Mr M. Higgins and with him were Messrs A. Meldrum, A. Radford and J. H. Hildreth. The first named received severe lacerations to both hands and other cuts upon his body, necessitating seven stitches being inserted. Mr Meldrum received cuts which necessitated two stitches being inserted, Mr Hildreth severely wrenched his shoulder and Mr Radford was much shaken.
