SCHOOL RUGBY
ANNUAL MEETING HELD PRIMARY SCHOOLS UNION The annual meeting of the Thames Valley Primary Schools Rugby Union was held recently in Paeroa and representatives from Thames, Paeroa, Te Aroha, Hauraki Plains and Waihi were present. The following officers were elected for the 19'50 season:— President, Mr E. C. Morgan; vice president, Mr H. G. McGowan; secretary, Mr E. A. Meyer; auditor, Mr L. Hoare; selectors (seniors), Messrs R. Harris, J. McLean and K. Clements; (juniors), Messrs B. A. Kelly, H. Rintoul and H. Cunliffe. It was resolved) that an effort be made to give the Thames Valley Primary Schools representative teams a week’s intensive training before their matches. Paeroa had been selected as the centre for the seniors and Waihi for the juniors. That would necessitate the boys being billeted for a week in those respective centres. They would attend the school in the centra and be coached and trained in the evenings. To create more interest in school football it was resolved to arrange for the South Auckland junior schoolboy team to play at Waihi and the seniors at Paeroa.
It was further arranged that the senior representative team would visit the Bay of Plenty for a week-end and would also compete in the August tournament.
