CUT BEING METALLED

WORK AT MANGATARATA PREPARING FOR WET WEATHER “Metal at the rate of four cubic yards per chain is being spread on the railway cut between Mangatarata and Canal road. This is just sufficient to hold the formation in case of wet weather and will enable us to carry on with the second coat after the weather breaks. Base course metal at the rate of 10 cubic yards per chain is being spread on Orchard west road, approximately 30 chains being covered at the end of the month,” reported the county engineer, Mr E. Hazeldine-Barber, to the May meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council.
