TRUCK OVER BANK
ACCIDENT ON TAPU HILL
DRIVER’S LUCKY ESCAPE Although its trucks have travelled over 200,000 miles on the Auckland run the Mercury Transport recently experienced their first accident involving any injury or loss of goods, when one of the trucks went over the bank on, the Corogjen side of the summit, on the Tapu hill. Driven by Mr S. Tawhara, -who was not injured, the truck rolled down the hill and landed on its wheels, about 50 feet below the road. It was extensively damaged, so also was some of the freight carried. A number of residents helped to salvage the goods and to fet the truck back on to the road—a task which took two days.
Mr C. Moss, another driver, suf fered slight injuries to a foot.
