NETHERTON INSTITUTE

TALK ON BULB GROWING RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS The July meeting of the Netherton Women’s Institute was well attended and was presided over by the president, Mrs C. Townshend. Mrs A. Smith was welcomed as a new member and birthday sprays were presented to Mrs R. Smith and Mrs Firth. Mrs H. Letters of appreciation from the institute’s link in Britain expressing thanks for parcels were read. Invitations to the birthday celebrations of other institutes were received and acknowledged.

A most interesting talk on bulbs was given by Mr L. Havill of Paeroa, members availing themselves of his valuable knowledge. The speaker displayed a box of beautiful daffodils and explained the various kinds. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded him for his talk.
