NATIONAL PARTY
MEETING HELD AT HIKUTAIA OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED The annual meeting of the Hikutaia branch of the National Party took place recently, the chairman, Mr 0. Cox presiding over a large attendance of supporters. Mr A. Sutherland, M.P. and Mrs Sutherland accompanied by Mr R. Leith Milne, electorate organiser, were present. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year, chairman, Mr O. Cox; secretary, Mr J. Corbett; delegates to annual electorate meeting, Mrs A. W. Alley, Messrs A. Lowry, H. Smith, P. Sutton and the chairman and secretary. The following names were added to last year’s committee, the list to comprise the 1949 committee: Messrs M. Robinson, M. Morrison, P. Sutton, G. Bax, M. Hanlen, G. Bachhus and Mrs R. Clarke. At the conclusion of the meeting Mr Sutherland gave a very interesting address and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The evening concluded with a dainty supper provided by the ladies.
