SEASON OPENS

PAEROA TABLE TENNIS OVER 70 PLAYERS ATTEND An excellent attendance of over 70 players, including representation from the Komata and Thames Fire Brigade clubs, marked the opening of the Paeroa Table Tennis Club’s 1949 season on Wednesday night. The president, Mr N. ,R. Harris, welcomed the visitors and the prospective club members and remarked that in consideration of the attendance at opening night, the season promised to be as successful as the previous ones. A progressive tournament was conducted and, owing to the number of players, had to be conducted in two rounds. The resultant winners were Miss A. McKenzie and Mr L Kurtovich. An attractive supper was then served by the supper committee and completed a most successful and enjoyable evening.
