WOMEN’S DIVISION

HUIRAU ROAD BRANCH ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Huirau road branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Fanners was held at the residence of Mrs A. Whitehead. Mrs Scott presided over a large attendance of members.

Mrs Scott presented the balance sheet of the recent flower show. This resulted in quite a substantial cheque being presented to the Women’s Division and Plunket Society. Mrs Lowe, Plunket Society president, thanked all division members for their work and help to Plunket. Two amounts were passed for payment for Rose Bowl and Rest Home funds.

Mrs Green presented the division’s balance sheet. Mrs Scott read her report and Mrs Lowe and Mrs Sutton gave reports on the sales table and competition activities. Mrs Lowe, on behalf of all members, presented Mrs Scott with a beautiful handbag and posy in recognition of her six years’ work as president. Mrs Maunder retiring secretary and Mrs Green treasurer were also presented with a gift and posy by Mrs Lowe, Mrs Sutton and Mrs Whitehead also received a posy. Mrs Fox afterward asked Mrs Lowe to accept a gift for her work in always making all floral work needed for the branch. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs L. R. Scott; vice-presidents, Mesdames C. K. Fox and H. R. Baker; secretary, Mrs T. Lowe; treasurer, Mrs A. Green; advisory members, Mrs Clark and Baker; sales table and competition ladies, Mesdames J. Rangi and J. Treadaway; committee, Mesdames W. Maunder and W. Bates.

A food parcel is to be packed by Mesdames Whitehead and Bates for the Polish people.
