LEAVING COROMANDEL
MISS B. DAVIS HONOURED PRESENTATION MADE A very pleasant function took place in the Oddfellows’ hall, Coromandel, on Saturday, April 9, when a number of relatives and friends gathered together to bid farewell to Miss Beverley Davis who is leaving New Zealand shortly to go to Malaya, where her marriage to Mr Errol Kennedy will take place. A very happy time was spent in dancing and games, about 40 'being present to enjoy the fun. A solo by Mrs Ball was very much enjoyed. She sang “ Love Will Find a Way” from “Maid of the Mountains.”
Just before supper Miss June Deeble referred to the occasion, which was to bid farewell to Beverley and wish her a pleasant journey to Malaya and the very best of luck and happiness in her life out there. She then handed Beverley a travelling clock and a silver cake dish with the best wishes of everyone present. Beverley replied, thanking everyone for the gifts and good wishes and saying she was sure she would often be thinking of her friends in Coromandel. “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow ” and three cheers concluded the valedictory part of the evening. A wonderful supper was served and everyone enjoyed the interval. After another game and a novelty Monte Carlo the last dance was followed by the singing of “ Auld Lang Syne.”
