COMING-OF-AGE PARTY

PARTY AT WAITAKARURU MISS K. BERNEY HONOURED Tuesday evening, April 6, was the occasion of a very enjoyable coming-of-age party in the Waitakaruru hall,' when Mr and Mrs Lionel Berney entertained about 150 guests to honour their daughter Kathleen. Dancing was soon in full swing, music being provided ;by Warren’s orchestra of Pukekohe, with Mr George Yeager acting as M.C. in his usual breezy, style. Kathleen looked very nice in a black taffeta swing skirt and cream crepe blouse. During the evening an interlude was provided with some charming dancing, Misses Barbara and Jeanette Roberts delighting everyone with tap dancing, a clog waltz and an Irish jig. After a delicious home cooked supper, Mr A. Otter brought Kathleen forward and expressed to her the good wishes of all her friends for a long, bright and happy future. Kathleen replied on her own .behalf, asking everyone to accept her thanks for both their kind thoughts and the numerous lovely presents. Her father then presented her with a silver key, and she cut the very lovely cake which her aunt, Mrs Gordon Adams, had 'both made and iced.

Dancing was continued until very late and the evening ended on the same joyous note.
