FINAL GAMES OF SEASON MATCHES IN PAEROA WIN FOR PAPATOETOE The Paeroa Cricket Club played the last games for the 1948-49 season over Easter. The selector had a difficult task fielding teams owing to members being away. On Saturday the Papatoetoe team defeated Paeroa by 40 runs. Most of the Paeroa batsmen found the fast bowling of J. Williams, 27, was batting very well when he fell to a brilliant catch. F. Carmichael held his end up in his usual style, making 24. Lack of understanding between Paeroa batsmen resulted in three men being run out.

R. Lonergan top scored for Auckland with 55 (including three sixes and four fours), R. Wright made 44 (including seven fours). Bowling for Paeroa W. Williams took five wickets. For Auckland P. Motoughney took three wickets and C. Kerr two wickets.
