GOOD SWIMMER
GIRL FROM WHITIANGA SPORTS AT NEW PLYMOUTH Word has been received that Miss Barbara Smith, daughter of Mr and Mrs R. A. Smith of Whitianga, has been very successful in swimming and diving championships at the New Plymouth Girls’ High School, where she is a pupil. Barbara gained first place in the intermediate swimming championship, first in the “ Scotlands ” dive, first in the intermediate dive and first in the open dive. In the harbour swim at the Mercury Bay Boating Club’s New Year regatta in 1347 Barbara gained second place and has several times won diving events at the Bay regattas.
