MIRANDA HALL

FUNDS AUGMENTED SUCCESSFUL BAZAAR Further funds for the Miranda War Memorial Hall were raised at a very successful bazaar held in Mr R. G. Findlay’s homestead grounds under ideal weather conditions on Saturday, February 12. The environment was most congenial as the numerous trees afforded welcome shade from the heat of the sun, whilst the tents and stalls with their decorations presented a fine display in an excellent setting. The stalls were well stocked with a good variety of useful goods and materials, comprising drapery, toys, vegetables, fruit, flowers, plants, refreshments, such as afternoon teas, drinks, ice cream and sweets. Numerous competitions and were added to make up a pleasant and entertaining day’s outing for both old and young. The attendance was excellent, being fully representative of local and surrounding districts. To the local ladies a very full measure of credit is due for their diligent preparation prior to the function, and their efficient organising and executive ability, on the job. The whole undertaking left nothing to be desired, and from all appearances the day’s operations ranked as a very enjoyable one for all present, and returned a very substantial addition to the hall fund. The memorial hall fund, which was established some four of five years ago, has now grown to approximately £ll7O, and it is understood that it is intended to <nake application to the Department of Internal Affairs through the local body for the £1 for £1 subsidy being made available for such institutions as war memorial community centres. •
