WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

TURUA MEETING DISCUSSION ON YEAR’S WORK There was an excellent attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Turua Women’s Institute held recently. Mrs Woods presided and as there was little business for the meeting members took part in an informal discussion regarding the plans for the coming year’s work. The roll call, imitation of a bird or animal was won by Mrs Woods. Other competition results were: Best bloom, Mrs Hicks 1, Mesdames Walker and Beagley equal 2; set of novelty home-made buttons, Mrs Hicks 1, Mrs Sparkes 2; sugar bag cushion, Mrs Sparkes 1, Mrs Hicks 2; three best tomatoes, Mrs Woods 1, Mrs Hicks 2; mystery raffle, Mrs Mitchell.

Afternoon tea, served by Mesdames Beagley and Hart, brought a happy afternoon to a close.
