ANNUAL PICNIC

HELD AT WAIOMU HIKUTAIA CHILDREN SAND CASTLE COMPETITION The Hikutaia school held its annual picnic last week at Waiomu, the popular Thames coast beach. Those children not accompanied by their parents in private cars were conveyed by 'bus. Luncheon and afternoon tea were supplied by members of the school committee and the ladies’ committee, and each child st the end of the day received a packet of sweets. Races were held during the morning, the afternoon being occupied with sand castle and swimming competitions. The 100 yards senior boys school swimming championship was won by Max Murdock, and the 75 yards senior girls swimming championship by Judy Cross, while the junior boys 75 yards championship was won by Edgar Bennett and the junior girls 75 yards championship by Glenis Reid.
