FAREWELL FUNCTIONS
MRS W. MURPHY OF NGATEA LEAVING FOR IRELAND The members of the Ngatea Catholic Guild held an afternoon at the home of Mrs C. J. McCarthy, Ngatea, to farewell Mrs W. Murphy of Ngatea, who sails for Ireland on the Akaroa. Mrs Murphy intends to - be abroad about six months and is looking forward to seeing her mother and meeting old friends. She was presented with a toilet case complete with requisites and the good wishes of all present. Luncheon Party A luncheon party was given for Mrs W. Murphy prior to her departure for Ireland on the Akaroa at the home of Mrs F. E. Hammond of Ngatea, Mrs Hammond and Mrs E. A. Mahoney being joint hostesses. The guests arrived wearing something to represent a book, and Mrs Motion was successful in guessing most of them. A delightful luncheon was served, after which Mrs Murphy was presented with a handsome writing case.
Among those present were Mesdames F. E. Hammond, E. A. Mahoney, W. Murphy, J. Motion, H. Irwin, A.' McClean, W. Baxter, C. Coxhead, D. Waite, Egley (Wellington), E. Brodie (Thames), B. Feltham; E. Hazledine-Barber, A. Simpson and Miss M. Motion. Friends of Mrs W. Murphy who ware unable to attend were Mesdames G. Birkenhead, C. J. McCarthy, E. R. 0. Sherlock, D. G. McMillan and R. Robinson.
