VAN AND TRAIN COLLIDE BRIVER BEFORE THE COURT % The sequel to a collision between a baker’s van and a train on the Hubbard’s road crossing was heard in the Paeroa Magistrate’s Court on Monday before Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., when A. G. N. Thwaites was charged with attempting to cross a railway crossing when the line was not clear. Thwaites ' was convicted and ordered to pay court costs 10s. Constable J* L. srown stated that .. . on August 30 Thwaites had been driv- 4 ing a baker’s van along Hubbard’s road and had not noticed the train. The engine had picked the van up on < its cow-catcher and carried the vehicle some 100 yards down the line. . Thwaites had fallen out of the vehicle and fortunately was only slightly injured.
