The annual meeting of Hauraki Calf Clubs Group was held at Paeroa last week. A large and representative number of delegates was presided over by the president, Mr D. G. McMillan, who in his opening remarks welcomed Mr Mountfort of the Auckland Education Board. The annual report paid tribute to the work of the children who exhibited their pets in a manner worthy of a seasoned breeder. The group also owed much to its efficient judges, the wonderful co-operation of the Hauraki Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the publicity of the Press and to many others. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £47 and with this in hand the group should be able to fulfil its true function. The president gave a detailed report of the coherences at Hamilton and Auckland, where it was decided that the main function of calf clubs must be to inculcate in children the love of animals. The whole scheme miist be educative And hot so much competitive. Calf rearing and type should be separated, with emphasis being placed on type only in senior classes. The chairman in his remarks

gave great praise to the Supervisor o? Auckland Education Board, Mr Shorland, the rural committee and the staff for determination in furthering the true aims of the movement. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr D. G. Md# I n; vicepresidents, Messrs C. Tow md, B. E. Veale and E. J. Quinn: Tetany, Mr H. G. McGowan; executive, pre-, sident, vice-presidents, secretary and Messrs G. M. Ruscoe and B. Kelly. It was decided that all calves be tattooed before the championship show at Paeroa. Appreciation was expressed to the president, secretary and members of the Hauraki Agricultural and Pastoral Association. The president of the latter in reply spoke of the harmonious working of the two organisations and stated that his association was donating £l5 extra in prize money this year to celebrate its Jubilee Show. Mr Mountfort of the Auckland Education Board expressed the appreciation of the board to the president, secretary and members of the group. There were also the judges, various organisations and the farming community worthy of special thanks.
