ODDFELLOWS’ BALL
COROMANDEL FUNCTION GAILY DECORATED HALL A very successful function took place at St George’s hall, Coromandel, on Friday, July 16, on the occasion of the third annual Oddfellows’ ball, sponsored by the Loyal Hauraki Lodge. The hall was gaily decorated with nikaus, streamers and balloons with large tubs of lilies. The stage presented a very pleasing appearance on entering the hall. A large crowd attended—somewhere in the vicinity of 190—which taxed the capacity of the hall. Good music was supplied by Herb. Walker’s orchestra, and extras were played by Mesdames Christian. Stewart and Lucas. Mr A. McNeil acted as M.C. There were five sittings of supper and the good things provided proved popular with everyone. Ah excellent floor, coupled with the good music enticed everyone on to the floor and a very gay time was spent.
A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss May Martin and partner, and a spot waltz was won by Mrs C. Turner and partner. Dancing concluded at 2 a.m.
