PLAINS PLAY PUKEKOHE GAME AT WAITAKARURU The Peace Cup elimination match between Hauraki Plains and Pukekohe senior Rugby teams will be played at Waitakaruru this Saturday. The Plains team will be as under, the following abbreviations being used: (W) Waitakaruru, (P) Patetonga, (N) Ngatea, (K) Kerepehi, (T) Turua, (M) Miranda. Fullback: B. O’Neil (W). Threequarters: B. Lang’.; (P), P. Mataroa (W), R. Laurence (X). Five-eighths: S. Fisher (N), T. Fisher (K). Halfback: N. Paton (W). Forwards: N. Goble (T), L. Crawford (T), B. Coxhead (W), G. Clark (P), B. Clark (T), N. Lowry (M), R. Duffin (W), J. Hikaka (W). Emergencies: Backs, L. Cullen (N), W. Stretton (W); forwards, J. Leonard (N), J. Innis (K). The draw for Saturday, August 14, will be as follows: — Seniors: Peace Cup elimination match, Hauraki Plains v. Pukekohe at Waitakaruru at 2.15 p.m.; referee Mr W. Bailey. Juniors: Curtain-raiser, Hauraki Plains juniors v. Pukekohe juniors at Waitakaruru at 1 p.m. Third grade: Waitakaruru v. Ngatea at Waitakaruru at 1 p.m.

BARTLEY CUP CHALLENGE The Waitakaruru Football Club, so far, retain the Bartley Cup; for, in their match against Turua on Sunday, they won by 12 points to Turua s three. Pronounced by all spectators to be the hardest-fought game yet played this season, very excellent football was witnessed, with some really brilliant work, particularly on the parts of Brian Clark of Turua Bert O’Neil of Waitakaruru. Tries were scored for Waitakaruru by C. Stretton, B. Coxhead, W. Stretton and P. Mataroa, while for Turua Brian Clark kicked a penalty.
