ROAD DEVIATION
FREE GRANT REQUESTED COUNCIL TO CARRY OUT SURVEY That work on the Hahei-Hot Water beach road deviation be put in hand as soon as possible was a request received at the May meeting of the Coromandel County Council from the Mercury Bay Dairy Company. A letter from the Works Department stated that it was impossible to assist in the matter of survey owing to arrears of departmental work. Cr. H. T. Robinson urged that the survey and legalisation be carried out as soon as possible. After discussion it was decided on a motion by Cr. Robinson, seconded by Cr. F. H. Purdom, “ that the Government be asked to make a free grant for the construction of the proposed deviation, provided the council carry out the survey and legalisation and that this matter be brought before the Minister when the chairman is in Wellington.
