PEOPLE OF NEW ZEALAND MENACE OF COMMUNISM mr d. g. McMillan s opinion “ The deciding factor in the next election will not be the contest between the Labour and National parties, but the menace of Communism,” said Mr D. G. McMillan when addressing a meeting of the Paeroa branch of the New Zealand National Party on Thursday night.
“ Mr Fraser and Mr Semple have been condemning the Communists in the ranks of the Labour Party,” he went on, “ but those are only words; they take no actions whatsoever.” Opponents of Communism
The National Party have declared themselves the opponents of the Communists, went on Mr McMillan, and they are very concerned at the growth of Communism in New Zealand and throughout the world. The Russians are doing peaceably—or so-called peaceably—what the Germans did by force, examples of this being their recent actions in Czechoslovakia and Finland.
“ I would say that there is real danger in front of us and if we do not do everything possible to rid New Zealand of this menace then we are not worthy of our aim—to become the Government of this country,” he concluded.
