MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE

FEEDER BUS SERVICE

The Ngatea District High School Committee held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 12, there being present Messrs D. A. Waite (chairman), H. Dalgety, L. E. Jackson, W. Jones, R. Williams, H. Hayward, W. E. Cocks (secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs T. Sydenham and H. R. Hill.

It was decided to contact the local branch of the R.S.A. concerning the bad state of the honours board (First World War) which is- located at the school, and to suggest either that the board be restored to its proper condition and the names re-written, or that steps be taken to procure a new board brought up to date.

A letter was received from the school staff’ conveying their appreciation for the committee’s thought in having a three-gallon Zip heater installed in the teachers’ commonroom.

The Auckland Education Board wrote stating that arrangements had been finalised for the installation of a feeder service from Miranda to connect with the school bus at Waitakaruru en route to Ngatea. They also stated that the contract for painting the interior of the infant building had been let to Mr K. D. Attwood.

The Auckland Education Board authorised the temporary employment of Mrs M. D. Flint as relieving assistant in the primary department, pending a successor to Miss S. Brophy being appointed.

New mats being required for the infant department, authority was given for the purchase of coconut matting and binding. It was decided to write to the education board for dressed timber for the erection of shelves in the infant department. Authority was given for the purchase of boxes of seedlings and bulbs for the school flower gardens.

The principal dental officer wrote stating that Nurse N. West, who has been dental nurse in the district for some time is to be transferred to Sandringham and Nurse A. M. Shores will take over her duties as from April 12.
