STATE OF ROAD
COMPLAINTS TO COUNCIL LENGTH IN PAEROA END OF RAILWAY STREET “ I would deem it a favour if you could see your way clear to tar seal the short piece of road between the subway and honey depot in Railway street before the winter sets in,” wrote Mr G. K. Manktelow of Paeroa, to the April meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council.
“ The road has a very rough surface and the water lies on it in the winter to a considerable extent, and as we have no footpath, we have no alternative but to use the road,” added the letter.
“I have personally let the surface water off the road for a number of years and as our rates are close to £3O per annum and have no sewerage, street lighting or footpath and a three-quarter inch water pipe you can see our amenities are few. We would be very grateful if you could Mvorably consider the above request,” the letter concluded.
The mayor, Mr Qfdwin Edwards, said that while there was not a light directly outside the honey depot there was' a light near the subway.
The works committee recommended that the access be improved until it was possible to seal this section of road. The recommendation was adopted.
