WOMEN’S INSTITUTE COROMANDEL BRANCH LETTER FROM DR. DAVIDSON The Coromandel branch of the women’s institute met in the Oddfellows’ hall on Tuesday, April 6, when Miss Russell presided over a good attendance of members.

The meeting opened with the prayer and the hospital visitors’ report. Final arrangements were made in connection with the paddy’s market to be held on Friday, April 9. The president’s monthly letter was read. Entries for the Arbury Cup at the council competitions were discussed and it was decided to hire a bus in order to* attend the council meeting in Thames. The competition was won by Mrs E. Turner. A collection was taken up at the meeting towards assisting the Mercury Bay Women’s Institute to buy crockery to replace that which had been burnt in the hall fire. The sum of 18s was collected.
