OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED

There was more than average interest shown in the annual meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union which was held in the All Services Club on Monday night, the chairman, Mr W. F. F. Faber, presiding. The annual report and balance sheet showed that the union had enjoyed a very successful season and had completed the year with a credit balance of £52 8s 3d. In the insurance account the credit balance was £lO4 Os 9d. The election of officers resulted:—

Patron, Mr J. W. Silcock; president, Mr Edwin Edwards; vice-presidents, Messrs C. C. Webb, G. Lewis, F. T. Gregson, D. Vincent, H. M. Shand, E. P. Fathers, W. Bain, D. Walsh, W. Heappey, P. Williams jnr., C. N. O’Loughlin, J. J. Craig; management committee, Messrs E. Meyer, R. Todd. H. Fraser, N. R. Harris, W. F. F. Faber. J. Verran, E. Short, C. Chilcott; secretary, Mr J. McKenzie; treasurer, Mr J. Reddy; auditor, Mr R. S. Nicol. It was decided that the season open on April 24. A recommendation was made to the incoming committee that it approach the Paeroa Borough Council asking that the rental for the Paeroa domain be reduced from 20 per cent, to 15 per cent, of the gate takings. It was decided that when the union was ordering new jerseys the colours be green and white hooped jerseys and green and white hooped socks. The notice of motion amending rule No. 7 of the insurance rules to include the words “ teeth or dental plate ” was passed unanimously. After a prolonged discussion regarding the notice of motion, amending the constitution of the union so that three delegates of affiliated clubs constitute the union, was defeated.
