GOLF CLUB BALL

OUTSTANDING SUCCESS LARGE NUMBER PRESENT NICELY DECORATED HALL The Paeroa 'Golf Club’s annual ball which took place last Friday evening in the Hikutaia Hall, was as usual, an outstanding social success. This event which is always eagerly looked forward to as one of the brightest dances of the season must have this year, more than fulfilled the expectations of the very large number of guests present as everything necessary to make a function of this kind enjoyable, music, floor, supjper and decoration, were of a high order; the supper in particular being up to prewar standards. The hall was a bower of greenery, masses of punga ferns, bamboo foliage and lycopodium decorated the walls and stage, while a dome of mul-ti-coloured streamers floated overhead all forming a fitting background for the many, lovely gowns worn by the ladies. The supper room was similarly decorated with the addition of sketches of golf players in humorous attitudes and situations. Bowls of rose-coloured peach blossom decorated the attractive supper tables and this shade was introduced again in the serviettes; During the evening the president of the club, Dr. F. Clark, welcomed the guests and expressed both his own and the members’ pleasure at being able to entertain them all. Music was provided by the Melody Makers Orchestra. Mr L. Shaw §.cted as M.C.
