NUPTIAL MASS

JOHNSTON-—POLAND WEDDING IN PAEROA St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Paeroa, was the scene of the wedding of Miss Flora Ann Poland, the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs I. P. Poland, of Kerepeehi, and Mr Douglas James Johnston, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs J. Johnston, of Napier. The Rev. Father W. O’Meara officiated, and also celebrated Nuptial Mass. Miss Rita Smith was the organist, and Mrs E. Kahn the soloist. The bride who was given away by her father wore blue silk ninon. The dress was cut with a low waist and bishop sleeves, and heart shaped neckline. Her blue embroidered shoulder length veil was held in place with a . halo of artificial flowers and she carried a shower bouquet of spring flowers which toned with her frock. The bridesmaids were Miss Lorna Poland, sister of the bride, and Miss Jean Candy, of Kerepeehi, a friend of the bride. They were dressed alike in lemon marquisette frocks featuring fully flared skirts shaped basques and heart shaped necklines with small buttons to the waists. Their veils of lemon tulle were held in place by artificial daffodils. They both wore mittens and carried shower bouquets of daffodils and maiden hair fern. The best man was Mr John Poland, of Paeroa, and the groomsman, Mr Brian Benney of Kerepeehi, both cousins of the bride. The flower girl was Christine Poland the bride’s sister. She was dressed similarly to the bride and carried a posy of lemon and blue flowers and wore a halo of artificial flowers and a short blue veil. A reception was held at the Hauraki Hotel where the guests were received by the bride’s mother assisted by, the bride’s aunt, Mrs J. Treanor, of Paeroa. Mrs Poland was attired in a floral jersey silk frock and off white coat with accessories to tone. She wore a shoulder spray of cyclamen and begonias. Mrs Treanor was dressed in a check costume with accessories to tone. Her shoulder spray was of cyclamen and anemones. Mrs W z . Chick of Kerepeehi made and iced the cake. For travelling the bride chose a tan costume with a green blouse and accessories to tone.
