ANNUAL MEETING HELD
OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED
The annual meeting of the Hauraki Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held in the Patriotic Club on Monday night, the president, Mr B. E. Veale, being in the chair. There was a fair attendance of members.
The annual report (previously published in the Gazette) showed that the asspciation had enjoyed a very successful year while the balance sheet disclosed the finances of the club to be in a healthy condition. It was decided that it be a recommendation to the incoming committee that classes for baconers and porkers be added to the pig section. Officers Elected The election of officers resulted as under: Patron, Mr W. Marshall; president, Mr B. E. Veale; vice-presid-ents, Messrs C. Townshend, W. J. Noble and J. K. Dean; auditor, Mr R. S. Nicol; stewards, chief, Mr C. Townshend; assistant chief, Mr M. Beattie; Jersey, chief, Mr F. J. Sexton; assistants, Messrs J. Sexton and L. Crosbie; Friesians, chief, Mr J. Paul; assistants, to be appointed; Shorthorn, chief, Mr G. Wilson; assistants, to be appointed from members of Y.F.C.; Ayrshires, chief, Mr H. Wilson; grade stock, Messrs G. Wild and Norman Millar; horse stewards, Messrs E. P. Fathers and J. K. Dean; assistant, Mr W. Crimmins; draughts, Mr C. E. Davies; ponies/ Mr F. Lewis; assistants, Messrs D. G. Powell and D. Date Of Show
It was decided to hold the show on Saturday, November 29. A letter was received from the Dominion office of the Young Farmers’ Club organisation asking that their members be given an opportunity to act at the show as associate judges so that they would gain experience. The request was accorded full support and it was decided to accept nominations for associate judges from the Hauraki Young Farmers’ Club group.
A request was received from the Thames Valley Jersey Club for two judging rings. It was pointed out that these were necessary in view of the large number of entries and. the late finish of the judging in the Jersey classes last year. The flub also recommended Messrs J. Morland and R. Wattam of Cambridge as judges. Other judges recommended were: Friesian, Mr S. M. Thompson, of Te Awamutu, or Mr C. F. Duder of Cleve■don; milch stock, Mr C. Riddle of Te Puke.
Speaking on behalf of the. Hauraki Y.F.C. group, Mr E. Quinn asked for better facilities for conducting their part of the show. The chief steward stated that an extra paddock A'ss available for judging and that this could be improved by planting trees and constructing an extra ramp.
