BAND SOCIAL

MEDALS & SHIELD PRESENTED WELL ATTENDED FUNCTION A presentation social and smokeir concert was held by the Paeroa Municipal Band in the Civic Hall, Paeroa:. on Saturday night. There was an attendance of about 120. The quickstep shield, won by the band at the South Auckland brass bands’ contest, held at Te. Aroha, last Easter, was presented .to the drum major, Mr 3. Bridge, on behalf of the band by the chairman, Mr F. T. Gregson. Medals were also presented to each member of the band.

During the evening the life membership of the club was conferred on Mr George Vercoe by the mayor of Paeroa, Mr Edwin Edwards. Presentations of wall mirrors were made to Messrs Vercoe and G. McAlonan by Mr A. 0. H. Allison.

Items given during the concert part of the evening were: .Two songs by Mr McAlonan, two saxophone solos by Mr Sharp of Te Aroha, and conjuring by Mr S. Bridge.

The following toasts were drunk 1 The King, proposed by Mr Gregson; the Paeroa Municipal Band, proposed by the mayor, Mr ■ Edwin Edwards, and replied to by Mr Vercoe; the Paeroa Borough Council, proposed by Mr Alkson. and replied to by Mr M. C. Baker; visiting bandsmen, proposed by Mr Vercoe, and replied to by M.v Callaghan, of Wnihi, and Mr PcyeJJf' of Te Aroha; the artists, proposed be Mr Baker, and replied, to by Mr B. Flatt.
