£l4 14s AVERAGE FOR SOWS

WEANERS BRING UP TO £2 2s

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report that at their fortnightly sale hald last Monday at Paeroa there was an average yarding of cattle but a small entry of fat pigs. Store pigs were yarded in large numbers and sold at exceptionally high prices, weaners bringing up to £2 2s. Large numbers of buyers took advantage of Mr Hamish J. Wilson’s entry of Berkshire and Devon pigs, the five sows averaging just over 14 guineas. Boner cattle sold at slightly increased values. Quotations: —

Heifers: Calved and close to profit, extra choice, from £ll 10s to £l3 13s; medium quality, £9 10s to £11; back, ward, £8 10s to £9. Cows: Calved and close to profit, extra choice, from £9 15s to £ll 10s; medium quality, £9 to £lO 10s; backward, £8 to £8 10s. Beef: Prime young cows and heifers, from £9 10s to £11; medium quality, £8 to £9; unfinished, £6 10s to £7 10s.. Boners: Heavy, from £4 15s to £5 15s; medium, £4 to £4 10s; light, £3 to £3 10s. Potter bulls: From £6 to £7. Bulls: Two-year-old, service, from £5 to £6 10s; yearlings, £2 to £3. Heifers: Yearling, best quality, from £4 5s to £5 15s; two-year-old empty, £4 5s to £4 10s.

Wethers: Prime, from £1 13s 6d to £1 185.6 d; hoggets, prime, from £1 7s 6d to. £1 9s; ewes, fat, from £1 10s to £1 17s 6d.

Choppers: From £8 3s to £9; baconers, medium, £5 15s to £6 2s; light, £4 19s to £5 10s. Porkers: Heavy, from £4 2s to £4 19s; medium, £3 12s to £4; light, £3 5s to £3 10s.
