MONTHLY MEETING HELD
FOOD PARCELS TO BRITAIN
The monthly meeting of the M'aramarua Women’s Institute was held in the hall on Wednesday, May '29. The meeting opened with the ode and aspiration, Mrs Symes presiding. Mrs Baldwin, Mrs Peach and Mrs Maxwell gave a full and interesting report on their stay at the winter school and advised more members to take advantage of the school if possible in future years. Mrs Baldwin also sang a solo for Mother’s Day, “ Little Old Lady.”
The roll call, “ the house task I hate most,” brought forth lots of laughter from members, and' birthday posies were then presented to Mesdames Maxwell, .Somerville, Neil, Kelly, Quick, McHardie, Misses Hale, McWatt and Smith.
It was decided to send twenty-five food parcels' to Britain in the month of June and also send £lO to Red Cross to send a bulk amount of food. Competitions were as follows: Best bloom, Mrs Symes; vase of flowers, Mrs 'Symes; baby’s bonnet, Miss J. Findlayson. An enjoyable afternoon tea, served by the hostesses, brought a pleasant afternoon to a close.
