PAEROA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE RESULTS OF COMPETITION'S' The April meeting of the Paeroa Women’s Institute was held in the Preshyterian Hall, Mrs E. M. Hill presiding over a fair attendance. Birthday sprays were presented to Mrs R. J. McKee and Mrs Jensen. It was approved that a donation be forwarded to the Plunket Society to assist their street collection. The proposed dress-making classes were discussed, and members enrolled. Remits for the Dominion Council meeting were read, and the delegate advised' accordingly. A Garden Circle report was received, the next meeting to be held at Mrs C. Gleadow’s residence. Mrs- E. M. Hill, delegate at the Thames Council meeting, gave an interesting report on proceedings there. The winners of the monthly competitions were: —'Best Bloom: Mrs E. Marsh; Child’s Knitted Cardigan: Mrs Brigham; Hen Eggs: Mrs M. Beattie; Garden Circle: Best potatoes, Mrs E. [Marsh, jar of flowers, Mrs H. E. Wil; iliams; quiz competition, Mrs E. M. [Hill. KOPUARAHI INSTITUTE MRS T. HUDSON ENTERTAINS A meeting, of the Kopuarahi Women’s Institute was held at Mrs T. Hudson’s residence recently. The roll call, ‘’Something for the Sales Table in aid of Institute funds,” was well answered. Tire motto was chosen from the wise words of Confucius and was contributed by Mrs F'argher. The business of the afternoon dealt with a letter from the co-inordinatmg secretary, re dressmaking classes. It was hoped that members would again join with the Orongo Women’s Division. The president spoke of the recent parcel sent to the institute link in Kent, England. 'Suggestions were made for more and varied foodstuffs to be sent in the future. ’The small number present did not allow of any competitions or entertainment to be held. A new member, 'Mrs East, was welcomed. Afternoon tea brought to a close a short, but friendly and pleasant afternoon.
