WILL BE SHORT OF FEED
MANY FARMS ON PLAINS GRAZING. (SCHEME WANTED Many farmers on the Hauraki Plains would be very short of feed this coming winter was the opinion expressed by Mr C. W. Parfitt, chairman of the Hauraki Plains County Council at the April meeting, when it was decided to contact the (Lands Development Branch of the Lands Dept., in an endeavour to have further Crown lands made available for grazing as a relief measure.
Many farms will be in a bad 4 way before the winter is over and such relief would tide them over a difficult period, said Mr Parfitt in moving that application be made '
for additional land to be made available for the purpose of grazing stock. The Lands Dept., should be asked to remove their stock from the area to be made available as. soon as possible.
(Councillors, fin supporting the resolution stated that it would be preferable if an additional portion of the Pouarua block, (at present being used by the Thames Primary Production cow grazing scheme) and the Kerepeehi block were made available.
All members of the council were of the opinion that the winter would be a difficult one for many and thought that any land at all which could be spared should be made available to farmers.
