KEEN BIDDING AT PAEROA
THAMES BREEDERS’ CLUB
With over forty choicely bred pedigree jerseys the first annual female show and sale of the Thames Valley Jersey Breeders’ Club held in the Paeroa saleyards on Tuesday proved to be a success. Although the weather was showery there was a : good attendance of buyers from all parts of the Thames Valley and from as far afield as the Bay of Plenty and the Waikato.
A good line of stock came forward .and brought prices which were very .satisfactory, bidding- being keen throughout the sale. Messrs Gray and Gray, of Matatoki, topped the sale with “Montrave Perfection” a two year old heifer which was purchased by Mr H. M'cCollum, of Ngatea, for 52 guineas. In the yearling heifer section the top price was secured by Mrs R. Irvine, of Waihi, with “Illawarra Vanity” which was purchased for 2‘oi guineas by Mrs 0. J. Farmer, Te Aroha. Auctioneering was undertaken by the N.-Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd.
iPrior to the sale a parade was held the judge being Mr E. W. King, Forest Home Stud. Nelson, one of the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co Ltd.’s stud stock The prizes were awarded as follows:—'Yearlings: Mrs R. Irvine’s “Illawarra Vanity” 1, Mr B. E. Veale’s “Tirohia Queen Horodia” 2, and Mrs R. Irvine’s “Illawarra Perfect” 3.
