BUILDER CRITICISED
HOUSE ON THE PLAINS
COUNCIL ISSUES A WARNING
The erection of a house at Netherton, work on which commenced before a permit was secured, was the subject of discussion at the April meeting of the Hauraki Plains. 'County Council.
Cr. D. G. MdMilan said it was not right that work on building a house should, start before the permit was issued. 'He pointed out that the house had been underway last month and only this month had the permit been secured. IHe ■ asked how the timber had been secured without a permit.
The engineer, Mr E. HazledineBarber said he-understood the timber was secured through the Primary Production Council;
Cr. W. H. Cheale, a member of the Primary Production Council, said he knew nothing of timber being granted.

Cr.-MeiMillan asked how under, the present regulations timber was secured without a permit being granted. ■Alfter considerable discussion Cr. McMillan said the reason why he asked the question was why the necessity for all the regulations if nobody observed them. It was decided to want builder in question that in future he must not erect any building in the Hauraki Plains County without first securing the necessary permit. Cr. C. W. Schultz pointed out that no permit was required to erect a cowshed. The county engineer, Mr Barber, agreed that the council had no control over the erection of cowsheds and Government buildings.
