PAEROA COMMITTEE MEET HOT WATER FOR COCOA SERVICES OF MR J. WALMSLEY The regular monthly meeting of the Paeroa District High School Committee was held in the Schoolroom on Monday evening. The chairman. Mi C. C. Webb, presided over Messrs J. H. Walmsley. H. Follas. P. Williams. S. H. Wheeler. T. I. Jenkins. A. F. Thorp and the secretary. Mr R. J. W. Clarke. The headmaster, Mr G. M. Ruscoe, was also in attendance. Heating Equipment The treasurer, Mr Walmsley, reported that he had arranged for the purchase of an eight gallon electiic heater at an initial cost of approximately £'2l3. This would give an ample supply of necessary hot water for the preparation of cocoa for the children during’ the winter months and would serve many other useful purposes. The equipment and installation would be paid for from the committee’s fund's. Winter Fuel For Schools ft was decided to purchase 20 bags of coke from the Waihi Borough Gasworks for.use in the heating plant at the High School. Arrangements for collection and delivery of this fuel were left to the chairman and treasurer. Accounts totalling £5O/1/6 were passed for payment. t The headmaster reported that during the month Miss McKenzie and Mr Hobbs, and Miss Hurle and Mr Henderson had visited the Secondary School for inspection. written reports had been, submitted they had verbally reported then pleasure at the high standard shown at the High School and the excellent condition of the school and the grounds. Mr Lewis, had visited the Primary School and Mr Denchy (Agriculture Instructor) and Mr Alexander (Agricultural Department) had [ visited both schools. Mr Millar, Board Architect, had attended the school in connection with building maintenance and repairs. Mrs Edwards and Mr Pilkington of the Auckland Automobile Association had visited' the school and addressed Standard 4 on “Rules of the Road.” Disposal of Horse Paddock ■ It was decided that, as the horse paddock was no longer used to any extent, the land should be used as building sections. It would be eminently suitable for the erection of two houses. Authority had already been given for the erection of one house for an assistant teacher, and the site could be reserved for this. The chairman referred to Mr J. H. Walmsley’s service on the committee. He had completed 11 years as a committeeman 1 , all of which time he had occupied the office of treasurer. It was understood that the Auckland District 'Committees Association issued a certificate to anybody completing 10 years service on a committee. It was decided' to forward the necessary particulars to the association and ask that a certificate be granted to Mr Walmsley.
