INSTITUTE COMPETITION SECOND FOR COROMANDEL Many fine examples of wormanship were shown in the competition display ! of the Thames-Hauraki Plains Federation of Women’s Institutes, held in conjunction with the annual meeting recently. The meeting, which took place in the King’s Theatre, attracted a large number of 'members' of various institutes’ and their friends. The competition included, lady’s crochet glove (any colour or design); ' daintiest frock to fit child of five years; silk material (plain or floral); appliqued breakfast cloth, cotton material, any size; shoulder spray (fresh flowers). There were a large number of entries, which were awarded points with 100 as the maximum. Those to gain the major awards were: Puriri (89) 1, Coromandel (S2) 2, .Maramarua-Kopuku ('8l2) 3. '.Marks were gained by other entrants' as follow: Ngatea, Netherton, 80; Kaihere, 79; Paeroa, 78; Thames, 77; Waitakaruru, 76; Wharepoa, 72; Waikino, '6'9; Pipiroa, 62; Kai Ngaiwi ( Kopu ), s'o'. In addition, competitions for individual members were held.
