KITCHEN EVENING
MISS D. DOUGLAS HONOURED
FUNCTION AT MIRANDA'
There was a good attendance'at a kitchen evening organised' by the Miranda residents in honour of Miss Betty Douglas and Mt W. Berridge and held in the Miranda School on Friday, September 14.
Mr Graham Findlay welcomed Mr Berridge home from Italy and asked him and Miss Douglas to come forwardl and open the parcels. In doing so, he wished them the best of luck and happiness on behalf of the local residents.
Mrs Mcßobbie on behalf of the young people, spoke highly of Miss Douglas’ patriotic and! social work in the district and wished them every happiness. She presented Miss Douglas with a bouquet and Mrs Douglas with a shoulder spray.
Mr Alan Lane spoke with appreciation of the very fine work done in connection with the 'Sunday School by both Miss Douglas and Mr Berridge. Mr Berridge thanked the residents for the numerous gifts and pleasant evening extended’ in his and Miss Douglas’ honour and stated that the gifts would aways remind them of Miranda. Musical honours were then accorded.
The Misses Chipman (Mangatangi), gave most enjoyable musical items.
Winnters of the Monte Carlo waltb were Miss M. Douglas and Mr R. Mouldey. Mr Geo. Coxhead was M.C.
