FAREWELL AFTERNOON

MRS C. W. MALCOLM HONOURED 1 . 1 FUNCTION HELD AT NETH'ERTON ] The Netherton W.W.S.A. and . Women’s Institute combined at a fare- ( well afternoon last week to bid Mrs ( C. W. Malcolm and her small daughter Jennie, farewell, on her departure to live at Hamilton. The hall was decorated with small tables and bowls of spring flowers and as it was the first W.W-S.A. gathering since V.J.-Day, everyone had a cheery word, with a thought that the activities of the W.W.S.A. were nearing a close. The afternoon was spent with competitions, the winners being Mrs Malcolm, Mrs H. Wilson, Mrs' Firth and Mrs J. Paul. A most delicious afternoon tea was handed round after which Mrs J. A. Reid, president of the W.W.S.A. presented Mrs Malcolm with a floral V and the customary card and' spoke of the pleasant meetings all had together. She then called on Jennie to accept a posy. After Mrs. Malcolm had suitably replied Mt’s A. F. Maude, president of the Netherton Women’s Institute called on her to accept, a gift as a token of appreciation of her hospitality to the members of the Women’s Institute. As Jennie had grown up among the members she received an initialled serviette and ring. The singing of “For She’s A Jolly Good Fellow” brought a most pleasant afternoon to a close.
