PLAINS DRAINAGE
HAURAKI WEST BOARD STRIKING OP RATES DEFERRED The September meeting of the Hau - radi West Drainage Board was held at Ngatea, the chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt, presiding. Others present were Messrs D. Waite, D. W. Dud'ding and K. Caie, and the clerk, Mr F. E. Hammond. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs A. Douglas and T. A. McClean. The clerk was instructed to reply to Mr Manning that the floodgate opposite the Pipiroa store was in good order but did not function properly when any debris blocked it. This could not always be observed and remedied at once. It was agreed that fSOO I be paid to the Lands and Survey Department on account of the contribution to the stopbank construction. The clerk was instructed to write to the Hauraki (Plains' County Council asking that arrangements be made for the Hill collecting drain to be fenced and the damage by stock to the same be repaired. The clerk was instructed to refer to the Drainage and River Beards Association, the article on trychlorophenoxy acetic acid and ask that it be referred to the various authorities and institutes for investigation. It was resolved that the striking of rates, be deferred to the next meeting. It was agreed that all of the floodgates receive attention 1 during the present year.
