The Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, m expressing appreciation of the splendid response made in Paeroa and the surrounding districts to all patriotic appeals, said that the area had right throughout the war always filled its quota. There had been no spectacular efforts but the generosity of the people had been such that the money had always been regularly forthcoming. 'He was, he said, very proud of the way in which all parts of the district had responded in patriotic work. In conclusion he thanked all who had helped both by way of donations and service in the work of the com-

mittee. - The Mayoress, Mrs Edwin Edwards, reported on the activities of the ladies committee, stating- that, between 40 and 50 soldiers had been entertained on two occasions during the past month. The ladies of her committee had also assisted with the membersof the Paeroa Lady Galway Guild 1 in packing clothes, etc., for Unna.
