SENIOR CLERK
HOSPITAL BOARD POST RETURNED AIRMAN APPOINTED Flying-Officer <W. A. Kelly, of Thames, was recently appointed by the Thames Hospital Board, at a special meeting, to the position of senior clerk, a newly created position on the board’s office staff. iFlying-Officer Kelly is well-known in the district. He has only recently been repatriated from overseas, being taken prisoner by the Germans after his aeroplane went down into the sea. Before joining the Air Force in 1942,.he was attached to the Department of Justice for 18 1 years, serving in various centres throughout the district. He was a former clerk in the Thames Magistrate’s Court, and held similar posts at Waihi, Paeroa, Tauranga and Te Aroha, also being secretary of the Bay of Plenty Mortgage Adjustment Commission. Flying-Officer Kelly has taken part in many local activities, having been, an executive officer of the Thames Rugby Union, Working Men’s Club, High School 'Old Pupils’ Association, Thames Boxing Association, and totalisator steward for both the Jockey and Trotting Clubs.
